Are the BioDiets Medical Weight Loss programs covered by my health insurance?
Generally the answer to this question is no, however there may be a chance your provider may cover a portion or portions of your treatment. BioDiets/BioHRT does not accept health insurance. We will provide you with a printout and super bill for the services and treatments provided so you may submit to your provider for reimbursement. BioDiets/BioHRT cannot bill your insurance for you nor will you need to provide us with any insurance information. All services must be paid for on the same day of your appointment. We encourage you to check with your provider first if health insurance reimbursement is a concern.

What is Medical Weight Loss?
There are many types of medical procedures to help people lose weight and each one of them is generally performed by a licensed medical physician or other medical professional. Our programs use the term medical weight loss because they are designed, diagnosed and supervised by licensed naturopathic medical doctors and clinical psychologists in the State of Arizona. The BioDiets programs include one-on-one weekly interaction with your treating physician and their staff. Medical weight loss procedures often have greater results in weight loss than dieting alone.

What is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin?
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or hCG for short is a hormone that is normally produced first by the cells that make up the placenta, then later by the placenta during pregnancy. Its primary function is to support the pregnancy by encouraging the production of progesterone. Although hCG has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for weight loss many physicians have had remarkable success in using the hormone as an aid in weight loss.

How much time do I need to have to dedicate myself to this program?
We recommend at least six weeks of time to dedicate to the 33 day BioDiets program. Patients who have the need to lose 35 pounds or more should allocate a minimum of eight weeks of time to their program.

What type of foods go I get to eat while on your program?
Individuals who choose our weight loss programs will have their gourmet meals prepared and delivered to your home every day.

Meats & Fish Entrees include: Beef, Veal, Chicken and White fish.
Fresh Organic Vegetables include: Fresh Asparagus, Fresh Greens, Beet-Greens, Fennel, Cabbage, Onions, Celery, Red Radishes, Chard, Spinach, Chicory, Tomatoes, Cucumbers.
Organic Fruits include: Apple, Orange, Grapefruit, Strawberries.

All of the BioDiets foods are 100% natural organic, never frozen and do not contain additives or preservatives. Our selections of food ensure you are getting a healthy balance of nutrients, vitamins and enzymes.

How much weight can I lose with BioDiets programs?
The BioDiets programs are designed to help any individual regardless of how overweight they are. However, you must need to lose 20 or more pounds to participate in our hCH weight loss programs. As a rule we never allow a patient to lose more than 35-40 pounds during their first treatment cycle. In some case of extreme obesity we will allow an additional 3-5 pounds to be lost during a typical 46 day cycle. To prevent a tolerance build up of hCH, patients must take a 6 week break after their first cycle, an 8 week break after a second cycle and a 10 week break for three or more cycles.

I have heard there are certain people who are not good candidates for this program. Can you Explain?
Like many medical protocols there are groups of people who may not qualify for a certain type of medical procedure or treatment. Medical weight loss is not for everyone. Patients who suffer certain underlying medical conditions may be excluded from the program due to contraindications that may occur.

What type of negative Side Effects can occur from the BioDiets program?
All prescription medications can cause serious adverse events. It is not possible for all of the potential side effect(s) to be known. The most commonly reported side effects have been, but are not limited to, general muscle fatigue, increased hunger during the first week of treatment, sore heels and a slight increase in anxiety. While these side effects are rare, you should immediately report any negative side effects to your BioDiets physician or office staff.

How can I get started?
New patients are required to register online. Once registered, they may download and print the new patient intake forms, complete their online medical history and upload any relevant medical history documents they would like included in their files.

What happens after I register online?
Once an individual completes their registration a friendly BioDiets counselor will contact them to go over our program and how it works. Information on any necessary lab work and program fees and costs will be discussed. If the individual chooses to commit to our program laboratory tests may be ordered and general intake will begin.

Where do I get my lab work done?
BioDiets recommends patients to Sonoran Quest Laboratories. Sonoran has several locations throughout Phoenix and can be located on their company's Web site. Click here to find a location. Patients may also choose a lab of their choice. If you choose to use an outside lab, please be sure to get a list of labs necessary from your BioDiets counselor.

† FDA Required Statement: HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or "normal" distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.
