Pineal Gland The Pineal gland is found in epithalamus, and a small endocrine gland. It closely resembles the shape of a tiny pine cone. The Pineal gland is the source of melatonin, and a hormone derived from tryptophan. This regulates the circadian rhythm (sleep-cycle). The circadian rhythm is a biological process that oscillates on typically 24 hours.
